Peter Golbitz, Soyatech

Peter Golbitz is president and founder of Soyatech, LLC, one of the world’s leading information resources for the soybean, oilseed and agribusiness industries. Soyatech publishes the annual Soya & Oilseed Bluebook, Soyatech.com and the Soyatech Daily and Weekly eNews.

An internationally recognized expert and consultant to the food and agribusiness industries, Mr. Golbitz has chaired more than 10 international symposia on the processing industry and has led presentations and workshops on the market for value-added agricultural products and food products in more than 15 countries around the world. He has authored a number of major studies on the food processing inudstry and market.

Mr. Golbitz has served on the board of directors of the Soyfoods Association of North America, a trade group representing soyfoods manufacturers and marketers, for more than 15 years. He is the current chair of the association’s technical committee and co-authored the processing standards for both tofu and for soymilk in the U.S. In March of this year, Mr. Golbitz was elected to the board of directors of the World Soy Foundation, which overseas the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health, a program developed by the American Soybean Association.

Some of Mr. Golbitz's accomplishments include:

  • The founding and operation of a food processing company that produced soymilk, tofu and meat alternatives in 1980

  • Assisted in the development of processing and labeling standards for tofu and tofu products in the United States for the Soyfoods Association of North America in 1986

  • Development and submission of standards for the composition and labeling of soymilk in the U.S. to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the Soyfoods Association of North America in 1997

  • Conducting studies on global markets and consumption of value-added agricultural products for the World Bank, the American Soybean Association, the United Soybean Board and other institutions.

  • Research on processing soybeans in space for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

  • Consultation and development of projects for value-added agricultural products development in Mexico, Latin America and Africa for the American Soybean Association

  • Consulting with multi-national seed and genetics companies related to value-added food processing and ingredient

  • Coordination of 11 major U.S., European and South American conferences on agribusiness research, marketing and development

  • Being an invited faculty member for short courses on oilseed processing at University of Illinois and Texas A & M University

  • Leading consulting projects for a number of the world’s largest food marketers and processors on market and consumer trends, acquisition strategies and product development

  • Leading a fund raising effort for the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) the resulted in a 2 year on going project in Southern Africa; leading workshops in South Africa on incorporation of soybeans and soy proteins in food products
