INTSOY Education and Training Programs
INTSOY provides short-term non-degree training in the area of postharvest processing and utilization of soybeans and grain legumes. INTSOY also participates in degree programs of LDC candidates in food science who focus on soybeans and grain legumes in their thesis research.
Short-term training is provided in several forms to cater to the specific needs of INTSOY clients:
Individual & Group Short-Term Training
Individual & group short-term training can be arranged. These courses are designed to provide in-depth training on specific technologies and products of the client's interest. The depth and duration of the course is determined on a case-by-case basis. Scientists responsible for specific technology areas and agribusiness representatives interested in specific processing technologies/products are the common recipients of individual short-term training courses. INTSOY also offers a few group courses throughout the year such as soy application in meat, soymilk production & marketing, soy food product development etc.
Agribusiness Support Programs
In response to the growing needs of LDC agribusiness, INTSOY offers short-term programs to business leaders and entrepreneurs. These programs are designed to promote mutually beneficial business-to-business contacts between LDC and U.S. agribusiness. Exposure to technology and business development principles are included in the programs as needed. These programs are facilitated by strategic linkages established between INTSOY and internationally oriented U.S. companies that supply processing technologies, equipment, raw material and finished products and consultancy services.
In-Country Training Programs
Short-term training programs are offered overseas in collaboration with capable partner institutions in LDC's. INTSOY's long-term programs have resulted in the development of physical facilities and expertise in several LDC's where short-term training can be held on a regional basis. The course content is developed for each program, taking into consideration the common needs and problems of the region. Resource personnel from the host institution, as well as region are utilized to promote exchange of expertise and experience within the region. In-country training programs have been held in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Egypt.
Postdoctoral Training Programs
Postdoctoral training programs are conducted primarily in support of long-term contracts on overseas projects. These programs are designed to provide advanced training in technologies as well as address applied research needs of the recipient institutions. The programs may last up to one year.
